What are some of your motivations that drive you to achieve this ERA Diamond award?
[Irene Tan]: My family is my driving force. I’m a mother of two and this career gives me the flexibility of time to achieve results. Being self-employed has its rewards of being able to make money while taking care of my kids. Importantly, I strive to give them a better future.
What does it take to achieve this award and what it means to you?
[Irene Tan]: I was a homemaker at age 28. It was fun and happy to accompany my kids and watch them grow up. But after staying home for 4 years, one day I realized I don’t recognize myself anymore, I feel that I am no longer myself... I don’t have any personal achievement besides the kids is healthy and happy and they do well in school. That’s when I decided to step into real estate to be a realtor because I wanted a challenging yet rewarding career. This is my 7th time achieving this prestigious Diamond award but it continues to excite me every single time. I take it as a personal challenge and I wish to also inspire my team by showing them the benefits of adding extreme value to our clients.
Where were your closings? What were the challenges faced and how did you overcome them?
[Irene Tan]: I helped my clients to invest in 3 new projects and also sold 2 HDB. I feel that I’m able to achieve these results because of my willingness to embrace rejection. In our line, we face massive tons of rejections before we get a sale. Having the grit and tenacity to push on and having a never-give-up attitude is of paramount importance to achieve results.
How does ERA, Preeminent Group, and ALD make a difference?
[Irene Tan]: I believe that the environment and team culture can truly make the difference. I feel that I am blessed to be in a team that is a digitally savvy. I believe that digital marketing is the future and most of my closings came from the digital realtor trainings I had attended by Preeminent Group and Alex Lim.
Is there anyone whom you wish to show your appreciation to?
[Irene Tan]: I would like to thank my husband and children for their patience and understand due to my sometimes erratic schedule. Thanks also to our team for all the support towards making this possible. Thanks to my clients for their trust in me.
Do you have any tips or advice to inspire fellow realtors?
[Irene Tan]: This industry requires a high level of discipline and one has to be self-motivated in order to achieve. We may face multiple rejections and the way to overcome it is to count only your wins and not your losses. Most importantly, never never never ever give up and always believe you are one step away from achieving it!
